Post Match Game Report - Coach Ron
Game Report:
This game started pretty rough for us, even though on the field the 2 teams were equally matched in size. The Jupiter coach complained about the size of our 2 young props, stating that if he knew we had young guys that big he would have put in some A side players. We saw from the beginning that Jupiter wasn't going to go down without a fight.
First Half:
For the first 20 minutes we were looking bad, there were too many mistakes, some missed tackles, bad kicking choices, trying to run out of our 22, and no support in open play. Between both the teams mistakes with ball in hand, the game went back and fourth till Josh made a quick tackle on the inside center, quickly popped up, recovered the ball and broke 45 meters for an excellent try in the corner, conversion missed. 5-0 Miami. A couple of big breaks by Jupiter drove them up the field, and a great cut back inside by the outside center with a scissor from the flyhalf, put them in the try zone. 5-5, conversion missed. For the rest of the half, Jupiter kept the ball in the hands of their props. One of the props made a big break away only to be tackled short of the try line by our fullback Mateo. Off the second phase of that same play, Mateo makes another big tackle. Then off the third phase of the same play, Mateo makes a 3rd tackle stopping the play a few feet from their try zone. Half time, score: 5-5.
Second Half:
After chatting up the boys, it was on. Jupiter subs in a big, tall, strong runner in the back line. But our lineouts start looking good, the backs are running great, and tackling like champions. After 5 mins, substitutions go on field. Great running and open field play by Tincho, Bam Bam, and Mateo, opened up a huge gap and Nacho broke for a nice try, conversion missed. Score: 10-5, Miami up. Big tackles by Caique, Hector and Micheal helped jupiter to have trouble holding on to the ball. Our scrum was dominant on the push, helping our hooker Tomas steal multiple Jupiter put ins, and also helping Mateo get quick ball and score a try, a very close but too short conversion is missed. Miami up, 15-5. After stealing a Jupiter lineout throw, we get a big scrum, with quick ball to the backs. Camilo makes a big run with no support and passes back but it hits the ground, and a flying Caique on the wing picks up and scores. Another close conversion is missed, but it's Miami 20, Jupiter 5. The big Jupiter back makes a big break, fends off 2 Miami players, but is tackled into touch by Tincho, 2 meters from the Jupiter try zone. They win the lineout and are mauling and running hard, but the unbelievable Miami tackling stops them continuously. No one is getting in that try zone. This continues for just under 5 mins, till the whistle blows. Miami wins! Final Score: 20-5.
Man Of The Match:
An honorable mention went to our hooker Tomas for another outstanding day, but the true honors went to fullback Mateo Ianotti. He did not miss any tackles, and his support running gave him an assist on a try, along with a try of his own. It was well deserved, and represented the black and gold to the fullest degree.
